History Timeline
Pick any date from the past 2,000 years and see what happened on it around the world. Github →
Why I built it
In a 2023 history class, I read about MacArthur freeing 5,000 prisoners on February 6, 1945, and wondered what else happened that day. Bob Marley was born on the same date, halfway across the world. The idea sat for three years while I taught myself to build websites. In 2026, I built it.
How it works
Enter a date and the site lists the important events that happened on it. For example, Red Bull was founded on April 1, 1987. No date in mind? Press Random.
The data
I chose quality over quantity. Every date is curated by hand, with no AI used in the data collection, so the archive is small.
